MBNA America
MBNA Corporation was a bank and a wholly owned subsidiary MBNA America
Bank, N.A., headquartered in Wilmington Delaware. In 2005 MBNA was
acquired by Bank of America. MBNA has had a history of aggressive
lending practices and a higher level of consumer complaints. Many
complains have stemmed from MBNA’s risk based rate re-pricing.
Meaning if they detect a clients credit score is declining they start
aggressively raising the credit card rate. Also if a client is late
on a payment in most cases MBNA would skyrocket that clients rate.
MBNA also has been known to raise clients payments if they detect
clients credit score is slipping even if their payment history with
MBNA is perfect. Chances are good that as time goes on many of these
practices will be cut down or cut out by more fair and favorable Bank
of America Credit Cards.
